I tend to think that Wachovia's apology was unnecessary (but harmless), and reparations for slavery would be difficult to manage and probably wouldn't solve anything. There has to be a cut off at some point. There are at least a few Jewish people among my ancestors, and I have yet to see a dime (or get an apology) out of Egypt for the years of brutal slavery suffered by the Jews. This constant drive for reparations, repudiations (Sean Hannity is always badgering his guests to repudiate statements they never even made), and apologies is, ultimately, unproductive. If you do decide that reparations are a good idea, you might want to give the British embassy a call, I think they did some pretty sick stuff to the Indians in the days of imperialism.
