Public transportation. It's a really good solution to many things, but it's also really annoying. It helps with the parking situation. Mmmm a nice safe rail system that runs effciently and on time. Not to make light of a serious situation, but this (aside from the British rail system) is a prime reason why NOT to privatize AMTRAK. In this area there are three competing rail lines, West JR lines, in order to increase business, runs the tightest timetable in the area.

I agree that if their stated goal is to reduce traffic on campus, this is stupid. I guess I hold out hope that what they'll actually do is build the new parking lot and then reduce rates. Given that this is $Cornell (oh, how I wish there were an "s" in its name), I doubt that'll happen. But, AA defines insanity as "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result." Wait, I guess that means I'm insane.

What really bugs me about the parking situation at Cornell is that they claim they have raised prices on permits in order to deter on-campus parking because space is so tight. But then they go ahead and build more parking lots...Makes me wonder why they really doubled the price of permits three years ago. I mean, if they really don't want people parking on campus, then the easiset way would be not to build more parking lots...
